The Story

Leigh-Anne and Andrew Peake purchased the Mt Pisa Vineyard in early 2007.  They live in Cambridge and have a seven year old son, Nathan.
Leigh-Anne owns and manages an Environmental and Health and Safety consulting business based in Cambridge and Andrew manages a tyre importing business.

During 2006 they decided they would like to diversify their interests and had thoughts of buying some property in the “lifestyle popular” Central Otago area.

During a vacation in Queenstown in late 2006 they viewed a vineyard property on Swann Road in the Lowburn Valley.  It was a wet day and visibility was not much more than zero at the top of the hill, however they fell in love with the property, its varied topography and spectacular aspect appealed to them, both coming from farming backgrounds in their early years.

The result was; they purchased the property and set about improving it.  New vineyard managers were required and Vinewise Viticulture was charged with the task.  They still manage the vineyard today.  A wind machine was purchased and installed to protect the bottom block from frost.  An implement shed was built to store nets and other vineyard equipment and provide a base for vineyard workers.

It appeared there had been no replacement program for damaged or dead vines in the vineyard for some time so in 2008 an assessment was completed and new vines purchased and planted.  Some 300 specimen trees have been planted on the top ridge of the property to provide some wind protection for exposed vines and aesthetically improve the property.  Boundary fencing has also been improved.

Now working with Peter Bartle, one of Central Otago’s most successful and respected winemakers Leigh-Anne and Andrew have been able to produce their own wine. Their 2011 Three Peakes Pinot Noir has already had success picking up Pure Bronze Medals in both the Bragato and Air New Zealand wine awards this year. They look forward to how this wine will develop.

Pete has passion for getting along side and working with the vineyard team and has built an intimate knowledge of the Mt Pisa Vineyard gained during his time as wine maker at the Peregrine Winery.

Furthering on from that success their just released 2012 Three Peakes Pinot was awarded a silver medal in the 2013 Bragato Wine Awards.
